This Week's Dinner Menu

It’s our final Pandemic menu! In two weeks, Dirt Candy is back open for indoor dining and a regular menu!

One of our very first Pandemic menus was Middle Eastern, so I wanted to bring things full circle by doing a completely new version for the very last. Besides, Paris is great in the Springtime, but nothing says warm weather dining to me like the flavors of Middle Eastern food.

FIRST COURSE
Mezze!

Charred Spring Onion Masabacha, Creamy Amba, Black Tahini Babaganoush, Herbed Falafel, Pickles, Pita

Dips and pickles with a delicious pita. Masabacha is somewhere between hummus and tahini only made with whole chickpeas, and black tahini cuts the sweetness of eggplant to deliver an all-new take on babaganoush. We’ve made an Amba (mango pickle) dip and then pickled tangy turnips, cooling cucumbers, hot peppers, and crispy cauliflower.

SECOND COURSE
Cucumber Avocado Salad!

Cucumber Cream Cheese, Pearl Onion, Mint and Lime Dressing

A cool and crunchy salad spiked with silky bites of avocado and bound together with lashings of housemade cucumber cream cheese, and topped with a simple lime and garlic dressing. We've piled it high with lots of mint and tiny onions, and the result is like lying down in the cool shade of a green valley. Super simple, super fresh, super Spring.

THIRD COURSE
Za'atar Crusted Cauliflower Schnitzel

with Green Zhoug and Creamy Garlic Sauce

Schnitzel is super popular in Israel because of all the German Jews who moved there and brought their food traditions with them. This is very thinly sliced cauliflower that's smoked, then dipped in za'atar batter, fried, and served over bright green zhoug (which is a spicy green pepper and herb sauce) and a creamy garlic sauce.

FOURTH COURSE
Tomatoes and Harrissa Couscous

Roasted Cherry Tomatoes, Harissa Broth and Preserved Lemons

Lebanese couscous is big, fun, fat, and round and we've cooked it up in a harissa broth that brings just a hint of heat. It's served with roasted cherry tomatoes and preserved lemon, and then a touch of smoked dates that brings out the smokiness you find hiding down deep in harissa.

DESSERT
Fennel & Cheese Quatayef
Quatayefs are dumplings oozing with fennel and cheese.

This entire feast can be yours for only $55/person (includes tip, but not tax) and there’s a drink pairing for only $30 more.

Order us on Chownow, or Caviar, or Seamless for take-out or delivery.

But the best place to have this meal is on our patio. Totally safe, socially distanced, regularly inspected, it's got a roof so it's snug and dry even when it rains. There's no better way to eat this meal than outdoors on a warm Spring evening. You can make a reservation or just walk right up (although you'll probably need a reservation on the weekends).
